Michael Cabral was born in Glastonbury, Connecticut. Michael studied a blend of humanities, science, and mathematics and graduated with a B.S. at Providence College in Rhode Island, and then continued his studies at Columbia University in New York where he received a B.S. in biomedical engineering with a focus in biomechanics.
At Tufts, Michael most enjoyed working and volunteering in the Emergency and Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology departments. Michael also enjoyed singing for the Tufts Dental and Medical a cappella group Docappella.
Michael is proud to be the first member of his family to enter into healthcare, and enjoys teaching his patients to advocate for their own health. Outside of work Michael enjoys singing, ukulele, snowboarding, waterskiing, surfing and soccer. Michael has enjoyed his first 6 months in Maine and plans to stay in the Bangor area after his residency.

Originally Dr. Alexis MacKenzie was raised in Maryland, however she now resides in Bermuda. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Bowie State University in 2010. Dentistry has always been in the future for Dr. MacKenzie, especially due to the fact she comes from a lineage of Dentists. However, she believes her calling to Dentistry was from “The Man Upstairs.” Dr. MacKenzie reported to always in her childhood stating to her friends “If you have a loose tooth, I’ll pull it!” She recently graduated in May 2016, obtaining her D.D.S degree from Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, D.C.
In turn, Dr. MacKenzie’s quest for knowledge has landed her the opportunity of becoming one of our newest dental residents at Penobscot Community Health Care Dental Clinic. She states the GPR program has been spectacular in affording her with countless opportunities to gain hands-on experiences beyond the classroom and additionally hone her professional skills. When Dr. MacKenzie is not performing dentistry she delights in painting pottery and enjoying the great outdoors with her dog Ace in Maine’s top attractions of Bar Harbor and Acadia Park. Dr. MacKenzie’s plans after completion of the program will consist of inquiring more education in Implantology before joining a private practice. She looks forward to this new chapter in her life, in which she can provide her patient’s the highest level of health care.

Stephanie was born and raised in Orrington, Maine. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Stonehill College in 2011. Prior to enrolling in dental school, Stephanie spent a year working as a substitute teacher and ski instructor. While at Tufts, Stephanie volunteered with the Smile Squad and as an oral hygiene instructor at the Tufts Medical Center Inpatient Psychiatric Ward. Additionally, she enjoyed working with underclassmen students as a teaching assistant in the emergency clinic and in the preclinical dental anatomy and removable prosthodontic courses. Stephanie also became an admissions interviewer for prospective students, a position she had similarly held in college. Stephanie’s most memorable clinical experience during dental school was her externship in Northern Maine at Fish River Rural Health with Dr. Rebecca Reeves where she actively felt engaged in the advancement of rural healthcare. Stephanie would like to incorporate community health into her career, especially in a small or rural community.
